The copper rod continuous casting and rolling line is an important process usually used in the wire and cable industry. It was jointly developed by CERIS, Shanghai Smelter, Nanchang Nonferrous Metallurgical Design Research Institute and SIMEE. The principle of this process is to use the national standard No. 1 electrolytic copper and the national standard No. 2 pure copper waste wire as raw materials, and then smelt by a reflection furnace, continuous casting by a five-wheel Continuous Casting Machine, continuous rolling by a roughing mill and a finishing mill. Finally, after cooling, washing and winding the rod, a large-length glossy copper rod is made.
Our company's copper rod continuous casting and rolling line type UL + Z-1820 + 255/12 (4 + 6 + 2) is used to produce glossy copper rod in a diameter of 8mm by adopting continuous casting and rolling technology. Copper scraps or cathode are used as the feedstock. The requirement on feedstock is that the scraps used as feedstock must be of first grade or above, without foreign matters such as coating, alloy, free from fragile burned cables, ashes and small size wire with insulation. Telephone wires, busbar or wires with varnish or paper insulation can be used.
The flow chart of copper rod continuous casting and rolling line type UL + Z-1820 + 255/12 (4 + 6 + 2) is as follows: Radiant furnace → five-wheel casting machine → Front haul-off → shearer → straightener and chamfering unit → burr brusher → rolling mill → cooling and reducing system→ coiling system.
